Ok, so it’s really unclear what’s going on with the climate. Fine. Recentg trends indicate it will get colder – we’re in an age of glaciation, punctuated by short warming periods. Have been for a long, long time. Turns out, that’s really uncomfortable for lots (most?) species. The current warm period appears to be going into extra innings (we’re up around 20k years; previous warm periods were around 10k, gove or take 3k. Yeah, what’s three. thousand. years. on a geologic time scale? My point exactly). Maybe it’s because we humans are all Evil and must Repent as Algore would have you believe.
Or, maybe we’re here because it’s cold (organisms adapt to environmental stress) , and our mission is to heat the place up. Maybe the reason we’ve not entered another ice age is because of anthropogenic global warming. Ever think of that? Maybe driving your Hummer around is actually helping the ecosystem.
Prove I’m wrong.

Let’s see… Holder has annouced that several of the detainees at Guantanamo will be give “fair” trials in the United States civilian justice system. Of course, the decision is predicated on the idea that the outcome is certain. But I thought the whole point of a fair trial is that a defendant is innocent until proven guilty. KSM has actually confessed, and asked to be executed and martyred. We’re going to give him what he wants, in addition to a public platform.
Many are saying that the civilian trials are an attempt to curry favor with the international left. This makes perfect sense, since leftist dictatorial regimes are famous for conducting show trials with pre-determined outcomes. Castro, Chavez, and Obama’s other role models will be impressed. Every time Obama has a chance, he seems to align himself with the worst that human civilization has to offer.
At least it will distract the nation from the worsening economic picture, and give the administration and the press a stage on which to re-invigorate the “blame bush” meme of which they are so fond.

I’ve always thought that open source voting systems are the way to go…
There’s a new organization called “Trust the Vote.” I went to the wiki, and what’s the first thing I see?

It occurs to me that the big difference between this latest swine flu variant and epidemics in past eras is that information about the spread of the virus, in addition to much more detailed information about the virus itself, travels MUCH faster than the virus. Indeed, we already have an electronic version of the virus in the form of the decoded genome. How cool is that?
A virus really IS information. It’s a packet of biological information that subverts the normal function of the body. But it can only travel via biological means.
Humans are quite literally engaged in an information war with this organism, and I dare say we’ve got it beat on that front.
